Expect diverse, uplifting music, juxtaposing fierce moments of high energy with introspective periods of calm, full of layered melodies and impressionistic beauty but unafraid of risk taking and experimentation.

The musicians and dancers of the Sound of Movement collective draw on contemporary jazz, classical and afrobeat music in combination with influences from diverse movement and dance to create engaging, thought-provoking works through collaborative making and improvisation.

Tachyon merge cosmic soundscapes, gritty grooves and echoes of jazz fusion, with acrobatic improvisation and dynamic interplay underpinned by melodic and funky bass, making for exhilarating and diverse new music. Headed by band leader, drummer and composer Tom Dickson, this dynamic group from the Royal Academy’s prolific Jazz program takes inspiration from artists such as Troyka, Jim Hart and Orlando Le Fleming’s ‘Romantic Funk’.
