Andrea Di Biase’s Oltremare (“Oversea”) quartet superimposes two musical worlds divided by the sea, combining the melodic and poetic language of Italian masters of the classical era with the harmonic and rhythmic approaches of British artists such as Kenny Wheeler. Di Biase’s vision is realised through the inventiveness of star pianist Ivo Neame, the lush phrasing of virtuoso saxophonist Michael Chillingworth and the blistering energy of Gogo Penguin’s drummer Jon Scott, an ensemble of some of Britain’s finest improvisers.

Good Evening has been collaborating with the Royal Albert to present great live music every Sunday night for over a decade. The program is rooted in Jazz ranging from its earliest forms to cutting edge contemporary fusions and everything in between, played by an ever growing circle of musicians from modern day masters to rising stars.
