GOOD EVENING – LIVE JAZZ: MILES SPILSBURY

March 30 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Contemporary / Modal / Electronic Jazz

Miles Spilsbury’s Light Maneuvers fuses influences from Contemporary, Modal and Spiritual Jazz with Electronic and modern music making. Growing from fragment sketches shaped under the Marseille haze, Light Manoeuvres is about warmth, generosity and openness.

The album title is inspired by the particular character of the light in Marseille, “…the movement of light passing over different subjects and spaces in intricate motion. Sand blown over from the Sahara on the Sirocco wind whipped up by the Mistral breeze. The Marseille sky becomes golden and vapoured, then intermittently pastel blue. This image shapes the music, creating a world, points of embarkation, vehicles for improvisation and gateways to something else entirely.

Musicians:

Miles Spilsbury – Saxophones, Flute, Electronics

Cameron Dawson – Bass

Harvey Dweller – Synth, Keytar, Modular

Rosie Turton – Modular, electronics, Trombone

Jake Long – Drums, Percussion
