Swinging / Hard Bop / Gospel

Trombonist, band leader and composer Christ-Stéphane Boizi leads a band of killer young players bringing original music that fuses influences from the church (‘Gospel’), mid 20th century innovators (e.g. The Jazz Messengers), later day torch bearers (e.g. Wynton Marsalis) and contemporary New York artists (e.g. Emanuel Wilkins). Striving to hone in on what makes the work of these artists so powerful, Boizi explores the approaches and questions they pose in his own music. This performance features in the EFG London Jazz Festival Club Program.

An exciting new voice on the London Jazz scene, notable for his inquisitive studious approach, relaxed poise and warm leadership, Christ-Stephane’s music is a vibrant celebrate of Jazz’s great past, very much in the present and looking to the future. 

Good Evening has been collaborating with the Royal Albert to present great live music every Sunday night for over a decade. The program is rooted in Jazz ranging from its earliest forms to cutting edge contemporary fusions and everything in between, played by an ever growing circle of musicians from modern day masters to rising stars.
